Like many other B-complex vitamins, riboflavin must be converted into its active form to be utilized by your cells, hence the importance of riboflavin 5′-phosphate supplements. In the human body, this process takes place in the cellular mitochondria when dietary riboflavin is converted by the enzyme riboflavin kinase into riboflavin 5’-phosphate (R5P), which is the principal form of riboflavin found in cells and tissues. Quality Testing
Our quality testing includes, but is not limited to:
- Purity (HPLC): testing raw ingredients before manufacturing to make sure that they are pure; we compare to a standard with a known concentration
- Potency (HPLC): testing finished products to ensure they meet label claims
- Identity (HPLC, FTIR or HPTLC): testing all raw ingredients; the HPTLC is for botanicals only while all other ingredients are tested through HPLC or FTIR
